The Environment, Health and Safety Management System of (EHSMS) ADB
ADB Headquarters Today

With the President's approval in March 2003, the Office of Administrative Services (OAS) implemented an integrated environment, health and safety management system (EHSMS) which was certified under ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 in November of the same year.

ISO 14001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for environmental management systems. Certification signifies a commitment to prevent, control and manage the impacts of an organization's activities, products and services on the environment in areas it can control.

ADB became the first and only multilateral development bank to obtain certification in the international standards on environmental and occupational health and safety management systems.

Procedures and guidelines ensured that activities at the Headquarters building have minimum negative impact on the environment and maximum positive impact on staff well-being.
