Myoung-Ho Shin
Former Vice-President (Operations 1)

Mr. Myoung-Ho Shin was Vice-President from August 1998 to July 2003.

Mr. Shin, of the Republic of Korea, succeeded Bong-Suh Lee.

Prior to his joining ADB, he served as Deputy Minister for International Affairs in the Republic of Korea's Ministry of Finance and Economy.

He played a significant role in

  • Republic of Korea's admission into the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development
  • Korea's schedule of financial services liberalization under the World Trade Organization
  • Korea's representation in international financial institutions

Mr. Shin's previous roles include

  • President of the Housing and Commercial Bank where he initiated the conversion of a housing bank into a competitive commercial bank
  • Director General of the International Finance Bureau of the Ministry of Finance
  • Adviser to the Executive Director representing Republic of Korea at the World Bank for two years

Mr. Shin was joined by two other Vice-Presidents on ADB's management team, namely; Joseph Eichenberger, Vice-President East, and John Lintjer, Vice-President Finance and Administration.

He earned an MA in Public Policy from Seoul National University, and an MA in Economics from George Washington University in the United States.

Mr. Shin is married with three children.
