John Lintjer
Former Vice-President (Finance and Administration)

Mr. John Lintjer was the Vice-President (Finance and Administration) of the Asian Development Bank from January 1999 to March 2004.

Mr. Lintjer was responsible for the operations of the following departments and offices: Project Management Unit; Office of the Secretary; Office of the General Counsel; Budget, Personnel, and Management Systems Department; Office of Administrative Services; Controller's Department; Treasurer's Department; Office of Cofinancing Operations; and Office of Information Systems and Technology.

Mr. Lintjer was Deputy Treasurer General at The Netherlands Ministry of Finance in The Hague. His responsibilities involved external financial relations within both the public and the private sectors. He was also Chairman of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Privatisation Network and of the Advisory Group on Privatisation, dealing with transitional and emerging market economies.

Between 1988 and 1998, Mr. Lintjer was Director Financing at the Ministry of Finance responsible for financial relations between the Government and the private sector, including privatization and public-private partnerships. He has been a member of the boards of several companies in The Netherlands' financial, airport, energy, and public procurement sectors.

Prior to 1988, Mr. Lintjer gained extensive experience in debt negotiations in his capacity as International Debt Negotiator at the Ministry of Finance, with responsibility for the international debt negotiations of the Government with debtor countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. He also headed the Multilateral Bank Division within the Ministry of Finance.

A Dutch national, Mr. Lintjer had earlier served as Advisor to The Netherlands Executive Director at both the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC, and as Financial Counsellor at the Permanent Delegation to the OECD at The Royal Netherlands Embassy in Paris.

Mr. Lintjer was a graduate of Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
