How to Promote Private Sector Participation

ADB's Private Sector Development Strategy recognizes private investments as critical means to rapid and sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction. The Strategy calls for creating conditions to promote private sector participation in the country's economy. What is the best way to do this?

Best Practices and Experiences

The result of the ADB study on Developing Best Practices for Promoting Private Sector Investment in Infrastructure will be presented.

The Study covered five key sectors:

    • Power
    • Roads
    • Ports
  • Airports
  • Water supply

The Study focused on:

    • Role of governments
    • Institutional reforms
    • Strategic planning
    • Financing sources
  • Unbundling and competition
  • Contractual arrangements
  • Legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Risk Allocation
