Strengthening Financial Systems
The Asian financial crisis highlighted the critical need to increase the soundness and stability of the financial system to address the risks of globalization and integration of weakly regulated and supervised financial system.
The G-7 and other groups, such as the APEC-Finance Minister and Central Bank Group, have mandated international financial institutions (IFIs) to respond to strengthen the financial system.
