What does globalization mean for Asia?

Efforts to minimize negative impacts of future economic downturn similar to the financial crisis in 1997 have highlighted two challenges for Asia

Promoting greater openness of economies and integrating further with the global markets
Building regional institutions that could respond in a timely manner to another financial and economic crisis.

The Seminar is intended to provide a comprehensive and forward looking assessment of Asia's ability to meet the twin challenges.

Has globalization worsened existing vulnerabilities of the financial markets and institutions?
How has Asian firms and banks met competitive pressures of globalization?
