Pacific Day Seminar: Partners in Development Nongovernmental Organizations and Donor Cooperation in the Pacific

(Organized by the Asian Development Bank with the Department for International Development, the Canada Fund and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade)

NGOs in the Decision Making Process

Much has been said about the importance of NGOs in the development process. But, NGOs continue to voice their frustrations that donors and governments exclude them in the decision making process and service delivery. The need for change is recognized. So what has been done? What still needs to be done to address the situation?

Seminar Focus

NGO representatives from Micronesia, Melanesia, and Polynesia, donors, and Pacific Island Government representatives will:

  • Review the progress of Government-NGO-donor cooperation in the Pacific
  • Discuss constraints to NGO involvement in the development process
  • Explore areas for future cooperation.
