Overview

Alastair established a new Social Policy position within the Development and Economic Policy Division of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat focusing on regional social policy priorities including poverty, health, education, the social affects of economic reform, human rights as well as regional coordination. He also developed a new NGO policy for the Secretariat and has represented the Forum Secretariat at numerous international social policy meetings.

As a Sociologist with the Development Cooperation Division of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (NZODA), Alastair had responsibility for social impact assessment, evaluations, poverty assessment and training in project management and design.

Alastair has ten years experience in project development, design, planning, reviews, evaluations and management.

Alastair has led project review and assessment teams in the Cook Islands, PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, South Africa, Tanzania, and participated in numerous other project reviews.
