RAFAEL BUENAVENTURA, governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, has had a long and distinguished career in private commercial banking spanning more than 30 years. He was president of the Bankers Association of the Philippines from 1994 to 1997 and chair of the ASEAN Banking Council from 1996 to 1997.
