ZAHRA EL-MEKKAWY is a member of the Secretariat of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. Over the past 3 years, she has been involved in the development of the new Basel Capital Accord, focusing on the internal ratings-based approach to capital requirements. Prior to her secondment to the Basel Committee Secretariat, she worked in the Markets Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, with responsibility for the foreign exchange trading and analysis division.
