Curriculum Vitae

JEREMY HARRIS, the mayor of Honolulu since 1994, has built a reputation as a dynamic leader and champion of creating livable cities and protecting the environment. In April 2002, Mayor Harris hosted the inaugural executive seminar of the Asia-Pacific Urban Institute in Hawaii, in partnership with ADB, US-AEP/USAID, ICLEI, CIDA, and World Bank. Mayor Harris founded and hosts the Mayor's Asia-Pacific Environmental Summit, which has been held biennially in Honolulu since 1999, and attended by leaders from more than 118 cities and 29 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. He holds undergraduate degrees in biology and marine biology from University of Hawaii, and a master's degree in population and environmental biology, specializing in urban ecosystems, from the University of California at Irvine.
