ROBERT D. HORMATS is vice chairman and managing director of Goldman Sachs (International), New York. He joined the firm in 1982. Prior to this, he was assistant secretary of state for economic and business affairs and deputy US trade representative. He is a member of the boards of directors of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Economic Club of New York. He also serves on the board of visitors of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and the Dean's council of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He holds a PhD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.
