Curriculum Vitae

SEIJI F. NAYA is director of the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism, State of Hawaii, and is on leave from the University of Hawaii where he is professor of economics. An expert on Asian economic development and trade policy, he served as Rockefeller Foundation visiting professor in Thailand, vice president of the East-West Center in Hawaii, visiting professor at Kobe University, and worked at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He also led the preparations of an ASEAN Free Trade Area proposal for the ASEAN Standing Committee. As chief economist, Asian Development Bank, in early 1980s, Dr. Naya has been an advocate for regional economic cooperation. He holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin.
