Curriculum Vitae

PITTAYAPOL NATTARADOL is president, Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), Thailand. He joined BAAC in 1968 as a credit officer in Chiang Mai and since then has been involved in strengthening credit and support services for some 4 million to 5 million farmers, as clients. Under his leadership, BAAC is revolutionizing access of information for its clients. Recently BAAC, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the National Electronics and Computer Technology Centre, set up the Agricultural Information Network, which provides BAAC and its clients with agriculture knowledge-based risk assessment, a warning system, crop information, and a customer database. BAAC is also piloting a crop information system for farmers using short message services.
