Unlocking the ICT Potential in Asia and the Pacific

Friday, 10 May
4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

There is no doubt that information and communication technology (ICT) has changed the world and is shaping the 21st century. Many fear that ICT is increasing the gap between the richer and poorer countries and people. Others are confident that ICT will bring about progress for everyone. The reality is that ICT is a potentially powerful tool, which must be effectively applied to benefit developing countries and the poor.

This seminar will bring together leaders of the ICT industry and development practitioners to consider the following questions in the context of Asia and the Pacific:

  • What are the ICT opportunities and risks for developing countries?
  • How can developing countries capture the benefits of the ICT revolution?
