Robert Gray
ROBERT GRAY has chaired the Debt Financing and Advisory Group of HSBC Bank since 2001. In 2003, he became the global head, public sector, managing the bank's relationships with public sector entities worldwide. He was appointed vice chair for client development of HSBC Investment Bank plc in 1999. He had joined HSBC in 1994 as chair of HSBC Markets Limited, to develop HSBC's capital markets capabilities worldwide. Previously, he was head of JP Morgan's capital market activities in Europe, and president and Tokyo branch manager of J P Morgan Securities Asia Ltd. He headed JP Morgan's worldwide loan syndication group and was later responsible for their euro bond underwriting business.
He chairs the International Primary Market Association and formerly chaired the IPMA Market Practices Committee. He chairs HSBC Financial Services (Middle East) Ltd. and of HSBC Securities (Japan) Ltd. He graduated from St John's College, University of Cambridge, with an degree in history.
