Timothy D. Adams
TMOTHY D. ADAMS has been under secretary for international affairs at the US Treasury Department since
2005. He serves as principal advisor to the secretary of the treasury on international economic issues. He
leads the development and implementation of policies in the areas of international finance, trade in financial
services, investment, economic development, international debt, and US participation in multilateral development
banks. Before this he was the policy director for the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign. In 2001-2003, he was
the chief of staff at the Treasury managing day-to-day operations, coordinating policy development and review,
and assisting in overall strategic direction of the department. During the 2000 presidential campaign he was a
full time senior member of the Bush-Cheney campaign policy staff. From early 1993 until 2000, he held several
positions at the G7 Group, which he co-founded and later led as the managing director. The G7 Group is a
consulting firm that forecasts and interprets economic and political events for blue-chip global financial institutions.
From 1989 to 1993, he held several policy-related positions in the administration of President George H.
W. Bush. He holds an undergraduate and two graduate degrees from the University of Kentucky.
