T.C.A. ANANT has been professor of economics at Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi since 1998. Previously, he was reader (1987-1998), and managing director, Centre for Development Economics, Delhi School of Economics (1996-1999). He also worked as consultant for the Tenth and Eleventh Finance Commissions (1993-1994 and 1998-1999). He was assistant professor at the Michigan State University (1984-1987). He is a member of the Expert Group on Trade and Competition Policy, Ministry of Commerce in India; and of the Advisory Committee for the History of Reserve Bank of India, volume 3; and a life member of Indian Econometric Society. He is also visiting professor and member of Academic Council at National Law University, Jodhpur, India. He has held several other professional positions and written numerous academic papers. He has a bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from Delhi University and doctoral degree in economics from Cornell University, USA.
