Peter B. Favila
PETER B. FAVILA has been secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the Philippines since
2005. Before joining DTI, he served as presidential advisor on infrastructure finance and as economic advisor
to the speaker of the House of Representatives. He was also chairperson of the Philippine Stock Exchange
and of the Securities Clearing Corporation of the Philippines. He was senior vice president of the Metropolitan
Bank and Trust Company before serving as president of a number of local banks including Security Bank,
Allied Bank, and the Philippine National Bank. He is currently a member of the Advisory Council of the Asian
Bankers Association and the Board of Advisors of the Asian Institute of Management Policy Forum. He has
held directorships in numerous companies and institutions, among them the ASEAN Chamber of Commerce
and Industry, Philippine Airlines, Bankers Association of the Philippines, Philippine Depository & Trust Corporation,
Philippine International Trading Corporation, and the National Steel Corporation. He holds a bachelor’s
degree in commerce from University of Santo Tomas, Philippines. He completed an Advanced Management
Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
