Yusuke Horiguchi
YUSUKE HORIGUCHI has been the first deputy managing director and chief economist of the Institute of
International Finance (IIF) since 2003. Before that he was director of the Asia-Pacific Department since 2000,
and associate director since 1998 at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Since joining IMF as economist in
1978 he has held several positions, including division chief of North American Western Hemisphere Department.
He served as staff economist, Financial Affairs Department and Department of Economics and Statistics
in Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Before joining OECD, he was teaching
at Texas A&M University and at Rice University. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Keio University,
Japan, and a doctoral degree from Rice University, USA.
