Haruhiko Kuroda
HARUHIKO KURODA is ADB president. He served in the Ministry of Finance (MOF) from 1967 to 1999 where
he held a series of senior positions, including vice minister of finance for international affairs (1999-2003); and
director general, International (Finance) Bureau (1997-1999). During this period, he led his team in managing
the impact of the currency and financial crises in various regions, including Asia, and participated in designing
international financial architecture as a G-7 deputy. From 2003-2005, he was the special advisor to the Cabinet,
Japan, and professor at Hitotsubashi University, Graduate School of Economics. He has written several
books and articles on international finance, currency issues, taxation, and policy coordination.
