Li Yong
LI YONG has been the PRC’s vice minister of finance since 2003. He was assistant minister of finance from
2000 to 2003. He was secretary-general of the China Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 1999-2000.
Since 1996, he has been executive director for the PRC at the World Bank. From 1992 to 1996, he was deputy
director general, then director general of the World Bank Department, Ministry of Finance (MOF). In 1989, he
joined the World Bank Department, MOF. He was first secretary and second secretary of the PRC’s Permanent
Mission to the United Nations in 1985-1988. He started in the MOF in 1984 as deputy director, Foreign
Fiscal Research Office of Institute of Fiscal Science Research. He holds a master’s degree in economics.
