SHIGEMITSU MIKI has been chairman of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ since 2006. He is also director of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc., the holding company that owns Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking and Nitsubishi UFJ Securities. He has been at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi since 2004. In 1997, he became deputy president, and served as president for 4 years. In 1994, he became senior managing director in the Mitsubishi Bank, Ltd and served in that capacity after the merger with the Bank of Tokyo, Ltd in 1996. He was appointed managing director in 1989, and director in 1986. He started his banking career at Mitsubishi Bank, Ltd in 1958. Among other activities, he serves as vice chairman of Japan Business Federation (Nippon Keidanren), a member of the International Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and a member of International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Beijing. He has bachelor’s degree in law from University of Tokyo.
