Michael Vatikiotis
MICHAEL VATIKIOTIS is regional representative for the Geneva-based Henry Dunant Centre for Humanitarian
Dialogue. Based in Singapore, he promotes dialogue and conflict resolution in Southeast Asia. Formerly
editor of the Far Eastern Economic Review, he has been a writer and journalist in Asia for almost 20 years. He
has been posted in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand and has written two books on regional politics as well as
a recently published novel on religious conflict in eastern Indonesia. He is a regular contributor to the International
Herald Tribune as well as a number of regional newspapers. He is a graduate of the School of Oriental
and African Studies in London and has a doctoral degree from Oxford University.
