Infrastructure Development through Public-Private Partnership

(Organized in cooperation with Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd.)

5 May 2006 (12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.)

Over the past decade, considerable progress has been achieved in the development of public infrastructure through public-private partnerships.

The development, implementation and financing practice of public-private partnerships has steadily evolved. Commercial banks and domestic financial institutions have recently demonstrated a growing confidence in infrastructure projects. This has largely been due to the support provided by the governments through the introduction of enabling regulations and fiscal incentives.

The seminar will review current practice and identify specific initiatives that will further encourage public-private partnerships and accentuate the benefits derived thus far. The topics for discussion will include critical issues such as public policy, regulation, access to capital markets, securitization, the role of regulators, and insurance.
