ASHFAQUE HASAN KHAN has been Director General, Debt Office and Economic Adviser of the Ministry of Finance since 2003. He joined the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics in 1979 as research economist, where he held increasingly senior positions. He was appointed Economic Adviser of said ministry in 1998. He was actively involved in preparing the reform program which was launched some six years ago and provided vital policy inputs in framing the country’s macroeconomic policy. He holds a doctorate degree in economics from the Johns Hopkins University, USA.
