Realizing the Potential of Development Finance Institutions to Catalyze Private Investment

(sponsored by Financing for Development Initiative at the World Economic Forum)

6 May 2008 (12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.)

The seminar, organized by the World Economic Forum Financing for Development Initiative, will help shape a future financial architecture for financing development, by bringing together multilateral development banks, government representatives, development finance institutions, private sector financial institutions and infrastructure companies to discuss key catalysts needed to create greater flows of private capital towards development-linked financial instruments and projects. Could the wider use of risk mitigation instruments, such as guarantees, by the multilateral development banks catalyze greater private investment in development projects?
