Joint Statement by MDBs on Occasion of 1st Anniversary of UN Convention Against Corruption

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, on 2-3 December 2004 a meeting was held in Washington, DC, of the Asian Development Bank’s Anticorruption Unit, the African Development Bank’s Internal Audit Department, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s Office of the Chief Compliance Officer, the Inter-American Development Bank’s Office of Institutional Integrity and the World Bank’s Department of Institutional Integrity. They reaffirmed a shared commitment to fight corruption in their respective operations and projects, and to this end, to reiterate their institutions’ commitment to protect staff against reprisals arising from the reporting in good faith of allegations of fraud, corruption, or other misconduct to the designated authorities within these institutions.
