Asian Development Outlook 2009

Diversified Economy and Reforms Needed to Sustain Growth

The sharp deceleration of the Russian economy, reduced inflows of workers' remittances and foreign investment, and a bleak outlook for commodity exports will diminish growth in Armenia in the short term. To sustain growth, the authorities will have to diversify the economic base and continue implementing structural reforms.

Armenia became a member of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in September 2005 and was classified as a Group B1 country, making it eligible for resources from the Asian Development Fund (ADF), as well as ADBs Ordinary Capital Resources (OCR).
