Portfolio Management

BRM is

  • involved in all stages of portfolio management including administration of loan and technical assistance (TA) projects, assisting in the administration of non-delegated loan and TA projects, preparation of project completion reports (PCRs) and TA completion reports (TCRs), and administration of private sector projects, and conducting country portfolio review missions (CPRMs) for Bangladesh portfolio.
  • since 1998, responsible for loan disbursement processing functions of the entire portfolio.

Country Programming

BRm is responsible for all matters pertaining to country programming, including

  • conducting the country program mission (CPM) and country program confirmation mission (CPCM)
  • preparing the country strategy and program (CSP) and its annual update
  • coordinating with the Government, the South Asia Department, ADB Manila, and projects divisions

Economic and Sector Work

BRM:

  • Prepares the annual Country Economic Review and Quarterly Economic Update for Bangladesh, Bangladesh section on ADO, and undertakes sector studies. The economic and sector work program forms the basis for ADB's support of policy reforms, capacity building, and institutional strengthening.

Project Processing

BRM:

  • Participates in the processing of all projects in Bangladesh
  • Provides significant inputs in the policy dialogue with the government
  • Interacts with the executing agencies to resolve project implementation constraints

Aid Coordination

BRM:

  • Maintains and facilitates extensive coordination and consultation with the donors on operational matters.
  • Chairs three Local Consultation Group (LCG) sub-group meetings: energy, project implementation, and urban sectors; and co-chairs the LCG sub-group on transport sector.

NGO Cooperation

BRM:

  • Facilitates NGO coordination in close consultation and interactions with the apex body and umbrella organizations of local NGOs and other major NGOs.
  • Maintains a data base of local NGOs
  • Facilitates government-NGO cooperation in project implementation and related matters.

Information Dissemination

BRM:

  • Disseminates information on ADB activities
  • Helps strengthen media coverage of ADB's operations in Bangladesh
  • Organizes press conferences
  • Maintains a library of ADB and other publications
