1. This invitation for prequalification follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in the ADB's Business Opportunities in 2003.

2. The Government of Fiji has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Suva/Nausori Water Supply and Sewerage Project. Part of the proceeds of this Loan will be used for payments under the contract named above.

3. The Loan is being implemented by the Ministry of Local Government, Urban Development and Public Utilities (MLGUDPU), Water and Sewerage Department (hereinafter referred to as the "Employer") on behalf of the Government of Fiji. It is MLGUDPU's intention to prequalify firms for the contract "Augmentation and Rehabilitation of Kinoya Sewerage Treatment Plant" under this Project.

4. The Works include all survey, design, supply, construction, testing and commissioning, electrical works and controls, and construction input required to complete the following Works to the performance standards and specifications. The Works include:

• Inlet works which include redirecting existing flow, construction of chamber, pipe work, all electrical works and controls, and decommissioning existing works.
• Primary clarifier mechanism including foundation, and main tank design and construction, internal pipe work and pumping requirements.
• New Digester, gas storage unit and gas flare including, foundation and main tank design and construction, internal pipe work and pumping requirements.
• All electrical works associated with the above including New Switch room, PLC and Control Cabinet, Instrumentation and Controls, SCADA Upgrade, Communications equipment and cabling, and Process and Controls.

5. It is expected that the Invitation for Bids will be made in April 2008.

6. In order to be qualified, bidders must demonstrate their ability to undertake the above mentioned works and meet the criteria set out in the Prequalification Document.

8. The Prequalification Document in English language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of US$50.00 by cash or bank draft. The document will be dispatched by post/courier. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

9. Application must be delivered/lodged on or before 12:00hrs, Wednesday, 16 January 2008. Any late submission will not be accepted.

10. The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by the Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their applications.

11. The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing of the names of those Applicants who have been prequalified.
