The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Chittagong Port Trade Facilitation Project and intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of the loan under the contracts for which this Invitation for Prequalification is issued.

The Roads and Highways Department, the Employer, intends to prequalify firms for implementation of civil works for the construction of 1.70 km access controlled road (Chittagong Port Access Road) to CCT/NMCT yards.

The Civil works include construction of 960.00 m flyover, 432.00 m. ramp (with side retaining walls), 80.00 m surface level road and 450.00 m surface level road and flyover above graveyard. The roads and flyover will be 2-lane carriageway.

It is expected that the invitation for Bids will be made by the middle of June 2006.

Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information and inspect the Prequalification Document:
  • the address given below
  • from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on all working days.

To purchase the Prequalification Document in English:
  • write to the address below
  • pay a nonrefundable amount of Tk. 6500/- or US$ 100 in the form of a bank draft or pay order payable on any scheduled Bank of Bangladesh, in favor of "the Project Manager-1 (EE), RHD, JBARP (JBIC), Dhaka"
  • visit during office hours with effect from 1 February 2006.

If requested, the Employer will promptly dispatch the documents by registered airmail (mailing cost to be added with the document cost) but under no circumstances can the Employer be held responsible for late delivery or loss of the documents so mailed.

Deliver your Applications by hand or registered mail
  • to the above address
  • on or before 16 April 2006
  • clearly marked "Application for Prequalification for Civil Works under Chittagong Port Trade Facilitation Project (RHD Component)"

The Employer will not be responsible for costs or expenses incurred by Applicants with the preparation or delivery of their Applications.

The Employer will notify in writing all Applicants who have been prequalified.
