The Kingdom of Nepal has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Road Network Development Project, and it intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this loan to eligible payment under the contract for which this Invitation for Bids is issued.
The Project Directorate, Department of Roads, Ministry of Physical Planning and Works, the Employer, now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the construction and completion of the following works:
Improvement of existing road involving:
- Double bituminous surface treatment (DBST) to carriageway
- Single bituminous surface treatment (SBST) to shoulder
- Crushed stone base course
- Capping layer or granular sub base
- Excavation and embankment
- Masonry roadside drains
- Retaining structures
The estimated construction duration of the contract is 24 months. Contractors will be required to demonstrate an average construction turnover of US$2.0m per year.
International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope bidding procedure and is open to Bidders from eligible source countries.

The Employer will send the Bidding Document by express mail or courier for an additional fee of US$150. The Employer accepts no liability for loss or late delivery.
Deliver your bid:
- to the address above
- on or before 11 February 2006
- together with a Bid Security of NRs3.0 million an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency
Bids will be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend.
The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.
In the comparison of bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Instructions to Bidders.
