Invitation for Bids

1. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Second Primary Education Development Program (PEDP II), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract package named above.

2. The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders from the member countries of ADB for the procurement of the following Goods for the purpose of the Program.

Interested eligible bidders may bid for one or both lots.

3. International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries.

4. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information and inspect the Bidding Documents during office hours (from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm BST) on all working days (Sunday to Thursday) from 3 December 2007 at the following address:

5. A complete set of Bidding Documents in the English language may be purchased by any interested eligible bidder on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of BDT 3,000 or US$ 45. The method of payment will be either in Pay Order or Demand Draft from any scheduled bank in Bangladesh in favor of the Director General, Directorate of Primary Education, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The documents may be collected by the authorized representative of the bidder.

6. Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 2:00 p.m. on or before 17 January 2008. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security mentioned above.

Late bids shall be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidder or the bidder's representatives who choose to attend at the same address at 2:30 p.m. on 17 January 2008.

7. The Director General DPE and Program Director, Second Primary Education Development Program (PEDP-II), will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.

8. In the comparison of Bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Instructions to Bidders.
