Invitation for Bids

1.    The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Gas Transmission and Development Project and it is intended that a Part of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to eligible bidder(s) from eligible source countries of ADB.

2.    The Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL) ("the Employer") invites sealed bids from eligible bidder(s) for the procurement of cathodic protection (CP) materials for high pressure natural gas transmission pipeline which are grouped into two lots:

Lot 01:      Procurement of Thermo Electric Generator (TEG);
Lot 02:      Procurement of Cathodic Protection (CP) Materials.

3.    International Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: Two-Envelope Bidding Procedure.

4.   To obtain further information and inspect the bidding document, bidders should contact:

5.    To purchase the bidding document in English language, eligible and interested bidders should:

• visit the office above from 19 May 2009 to 13 July 2009 during working hours on all working days and pay a nonrefundable fee of US$ 145.00 (US Dollar One Hundred Forty Five) or BD Tk. 10,000.00 (BD Taka Ten Thousand) in the form of Pay Order/Demand Draft/cashier's check in favour of Gas Transmission Company Limited.

  OR

• request for delivery by sending a written application to Project Director, Bonpara-Rajshahi Gas Transmission Pipeline Project at the address mentioned above. The application must include a Pay Order/Demand Draft/cashier's check over BD Tk. 10,000.00 plus BD Tk. 500.00 [Total BD Tk. 10,500.00 (BD Taka Ten Thousand Five Hundred)] for local delivery or US$ 145.00 plus US$ 30.00 [Total US$ 175.00 (US Dollar One Hundred Seventy Five)] for overseas delivery. The document will be sent by courier. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

6.   Bidders shall deliver their bids:

• To the Conference Room, Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL), Red Crescent Borak Tower (Level-6), 71-72, Old Elephant Road, Eskaton, Dhaka-1000
• On or before 14 July 2009 at 11:30 Hrs. (BST) .
• Together with the following Bid Securities:
  • For Lot 01: US$ 17,000.00 (US Dollar Seventeen Thousand) or BD Tk. 11,90,000.00 (BD Taka Eleven Lac Ninety Thousand); and
  • For Lot 02: US$ 11,500.00 (US Dollar Eleven Thousand Five Hundred) or BD Tk. 8,05,000.00 (BD Taka Eight Lac Five Thousand).

Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened at 12:00 Hrs BST on 14 July 2009 in the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend.
