Invitation for Bids

1. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Gas Transmission and Development Project and it is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be used for eligible payment under the contract named above. Bidding is open to qualified bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.

2. The Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL) (the Purchaser) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply and delivery of Pipeline Pig Traps for the Construction of 508mm (20") OD 165.00 km high pressure (1135 Psig) Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline from Bheramara to Khulna. Delivery and services under the contract shall be completed within 180 days counting from the date 30 days after issuance of Commitment Letter by ADB.

Details and specifications have been provided in the Bidding Document.

3. International Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: Two-Envelope Bidding Procedure.

4. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information relating to the bid as well as inspect the Bidding Document at the following address:

5. To purchase the Bidding Documents in English, eligible bidders should:

• submit a written application to the address above
• pay a non-refundable fee of US$73 or Tk. 5,000 in the form of Pay Order/Demand Draft in favour of Gas Transmission Company Limited from 17 December 2007 during office hours on all working days. No Bidding Document will be sold on the closing date of the tender.

6. Deliver your bid:

• to the above address
• on or before 11:00 a.m. on 14 February 2008
• together with a Bid Security of Tk 3,50,000.00 (Tk. three lacs fifty thousand) or US$ 5,000.00
• Bid will be opened at 11:30 hrs (Bangladesh Standard Time) on 14 February 2008 in presence of Bidder/Bidders' representative who choose to attend. Late Bid shall be rejected. The Purchaser will not be responsible for any cost or expense incurred by the Bidder in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bid.

7. To compare the bids, ADB's domestic preference scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Bidding Document.
