Invitation for Bids

1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the ADB's Business Opportunities of October 2006.

2. The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Second Rural Infrastructure Improvement Project: RIIP-II, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for which this Invitation for Bid is issued.

3. The Project Director, Second Rural Infrastructure Improvement Project: RIIP-II, Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders from member countries of ADB for the procurement of the following Goods for the purpose of the Project.

4. International Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries.

5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information and inspect the bidding documents during normal office hours (from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) on all working days up to 20 January 2008 at the following address:

6. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by any interested eligible bidders on the submission of a written application to the above address and upon payment of a non-refundable fee for each package, as mentioned in the above table, only during normal office hours on all working days till 20 January 2008.

7. Bids must be delivered to the address mentioned above at or before 14:00 hours on or before 21 January 2008. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security mentioned above. Late Bids shall be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the Bidders or his authorized representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 14:30 on 21 January 2008.

8. The Project Director will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of bids.
