Invitation for Prequalification
1. This invitation for Prequalification follows the general procurement notice for this Project that appeared in ADB Business Opportunities on 5 July 2007. 2. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Railway Sector Investment Program. 3. The Bangladesh Railway (hereinafter referred to as the "Employer") intends to prequalify firms for the Construction of Double Line Track from Tongi to Bhairab Bazar including Signaling on Dhaka-Chittagong Main Line. The major work components of the contract will involve construction of a second railway track (64km) between Tongi and Bhairab Bazar for double line operation of train services in the section and provision of computer based interlocking and signaling system including tokenless block working on the modified double line layouts at the station yards. 4. It is expected that the Invitation for Bids will be made in April 2008. 5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain additional information and inspect the Prequalification Document at the address below from 27 December 2007. Office of the Project Director 6. The Prequalification Document in English may be purchased by interested Applicants on the submission of a written application to the address above and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of BDT 7,000 or US$105. The method of payment will be in the form of demand draft in favor of the Project Director, Railway Sector Investment Program - Project 1, Bangladesh Railway, payable at any Scheduled Bank in Dhaka, Bangladesh. If the Bidding document is desired by courier/by post, an additional sum of BDT 1,000/- for the dispatch of the Bidding Document anywhere in Bangladesh or US$ 100 for dispatch of documents outside Bangladesh should be sent. The employer shall promptly dispatch the Document by Courier/post, but under no circumstances will it be held responsible for late delivery or loss of documents so mailed. 7. Applications must be delivered to the address above on or before 12:15 hours on 17 February 2008. The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject late applications. 8. The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by the Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their Applications. 9. The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing of the names of those Applicants who have been prequalified. Specific Notice |
