Proposed Bihar State Roads Investment Program

India intends to apply for loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the Bihar State Roads Investment Program.

The proposed investment program will provide support to rehabilitate and improve part of state roads development program in the state of Bihar. The program comprises improvement of about 1,600km of state highways to two lane standards and 2,000km of major district roads to intermediate lane standard.

Procurement to be financed under the Project will be carried out in accordance with ADB's Procurement Guidelines 2006 as amended from time to time.

ADB would finance those roads, which meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. An advance action on procurement was approved on 29 May 2007.

The Road Construction Department (RCD) of the Government of Bihar will be the Executing Agency responsible for overall implementation of the Project.

The first batch of bidding document is expected to be available in July 2007, subject to nominal charge.
