Invitation for Prequalification
1. India has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Kolkata Environmental Improvement Project (Supplementary Loan). Part of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. The eligibility rules and procedures of ADB will govern the prequalification and the bidding process. 2. The Project Director, Project Management Unit, KEIP, on behalf of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the "Employer"), intends to prequalify firms for the following contract: The Contractor will procure, install and read water meters for some of the customers currently connected to the water supply network. Associated services such as testing, calibration, commissioning and maintenance of the water meters, training of relevant water utility staff, and generation of water bills are also part of the scope of contract. Meter reading and water bill generation must start immediately upon installation of respective meters, which will be carried out on a staggered roll-out schedule, and continue until the end of the contract period of five (5) years. It is also expected that the Contractor will also procure and install flow and pressure meters at strategic points in the distribution system. 3. It is expected that the Invitation for Bids will be made in January 2008. 4. Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information from the Project Director, Project Management Unit, KEIP, and inspect the Prequalification Document at the address given below, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Indian standard time) from 5 November 2007. 5. The Prequalification Document in English, may be purchased by interested Applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Rs10,000 or US$250. The document will be sent by courier for an additional fee of Rs 2,500 for delivery within India, or Rs6,000 or US$150 for delivery outside India. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery. The fees shall be paid in form of demand draft favoring the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, payable at Kolkata. 6. Prequalification Applications must be delivered to the address below at or before 2:30 P.M. (Indian standard time) on 19 January 2008. The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject late Prequalification Applications. 7. The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their Prequalification Applications. 8. The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing of the names of those Applicants who have been prequalified. Project Director Specific Notice |
