| Invitation for Bids
1. The invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the ADB Business Opportunities in March 2006. 2. The Government of Nepal has received a Grant from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Road Connectivity Sector I Project and intends to apply part of the funds to cover eligible payments under the above-mentioned contracts. Whereas this contract will be jointly financed by ADB, OPEC fund and The Government of Nepal, procurement will be guided by the policies and procedures defined in ADB's Procurement Guidelines. Bidding is open to bidders from eligible source countries of ADB. 3. The Project Directorate, Department of Roads (DOR), Ministry of Physical Planning and Works, (the Employer) on behalf of Government of Nepal invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the construction of the above contracts. International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure. 4. The Works comprise upgrading of existing road in Dhading, Nuwakot and Rasuwa Districts of Nepal. The works to be executed will mainly comprise: (i) Excavation and Formation of Embankment, (ii) Masonry side drains, (iii) Gabion and masonry retaining structures, (iv) Double Bituminous Surface Treatment (DBST), (v) Single surface treatment (SBST) to shoulder, (vi) Bridge and Culverts, (vii) construction of one number of 20m span RCC Bridge included in Section1- Galchhi-Devighat(Km 0+000 to Km 17+400) - (RCSP/ICB/GTS/01) and other protection works. The duration of the contract nos. RCSP/ICB/GTS/01, 02 and 03 will be for 24 months and for contract no. RCSP/ICB/GTS/04 will be for 30 months.
5. Bidders may bid for one or more contracts, but if bidding for more than 1 contract, bidders will be required to demonstrate the combined requirements (see below) of each contract. Bidders wishing to offer discounts in case they are awarded more than one contract will be allowed to do so, provided those discounts are included in the Letter of Bid. 6. 10. A pre-bid meeting will be held at the Department of Roads, Project Directorate (ADB), Bishalnagar, Kathmandu on 2 June 2008 at 11:00am. Presence is not mandatory, but interested bidders are encouraged to attend. 11. The Project Directorate, DOR will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids. 12.
