Invitation for Prequalification

1.    The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Rawalpindi Environmental Improvement Project (REIP). Part of the proceeds of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. Prequalification is open to applicants from eligible source countries of ADB.

2.    The City District Government Rawalpindi (Executing Agency) through Project Management Unit (PMU), REIP invites Prequalification from eligible applicants for construction and completion of the following Works:

Construction of about 25 Kilometers long Outfall (Trunk) Sewer from Ammar Chowk Rawalpindi to Sewage Treatment Plant near village Adyala.

Applicants will be required in their submission to demonstrate extensive experience of relevant construction.

The estimated construction duration of the contract is about 24 months. Contractors will be required to demonstrate an average construction turnover of US$5 million per year.

It is expected that the Invitation for Bids will be made in November 2008.

4.    To purchase the Prequalification Documents in English, eligible applicants should:

• Write to address above requesting the Prequalification Documents for Contract No. ICB/REIP/TS/01: Construction of Outfall (Trunk) Sewer to Sewage Treatment Plant.
• Pay a non-refundable fee of PRs.7,000 or US $100 by Bank draft or Pay Order issued by a scheduled Bank in favor of Project Director, PMU, REIP.
• The PMU will send the Prequalification Document by express mail or courier for an additional fee of US$50. The PMU accepts no liability for loss or late delivery.

5.    Deliver your application:

• to the address above;
• on or before 2:00 p.m., 30 August 2008. Prequalification documents received after this deadline will be returned unopened.

6.     The following prequalified firms need not re-apply.
