Invitation for Prequalification

1. This invitation for Prequalification follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the ADB Business Opportunities on 19 July 2005. This contract will be jointly financed by ADB and National Highway Authority. The eligibility rules and procedures of ADB will govern the prequalification and the bidding procedures.

2. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of National Highway Development Sector Investment Program.

3. The National Highway Authority, ("The Employer"), intends to pre-qualify firms for the following contract under the project: Construction of Road and Other Civil Works for the National Highway Development Sector Investment Program, N-50 Qila Saifullah - Zhob (155 Km).

4. It is expected that the invitation for the bids will be made in April 2008.

5. Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information from the office of General Manager (P&CA) and inspect the Prequalification Documents at the address given below, during office hours of 09:00-15:00 hrs from Monday to Saturday.

6. The Prequalification Document in English may be purchased by interested Applicants on the submission of a written application to be address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of US$ 50 or (Equivalent PK rupees). The method of payment will be a pay order in favour of National Highway Authority, drawn upon any scheduled bank in Pakistan. The documents can also be sent by mail upon a written application to the below mentioned address. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

7. Applications must be delivered to the address below on or before 11 February 2008 at 15:00 hrs. The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject late applications.

8. The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by the Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their application.

9. The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing of the names of those Applicants who have been pre-qualified.
