Invitation for Bids

1. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Construction of 500kV &220kV Grid Stations. A part of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.

2. The National Transmission and Dispatch Company, NTDC ("the Employer") invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the civil works, erection, testing and commissioning of Extension Works at 220kV Bahawalpur, Yousafwala and Hala Road Hyderabad Grid Stations. The bidder may bid for any number of lots.

3. International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure.

4. Only eligible bidders with the following key qualifications should participate in this bidding:

• At least 5 years experience of construction, erection, testing and commissioning of 220 kV or higher voltage Grid Stations.
• The contractor should have sound financial status. The difference between cash in hand and short term liabilities should be adequate enough for smooth execution of this project.
• Should have Qualified Civil and Electrical Engineers along with Finance Managers.

6. To purchase the bidding documents in English eligible bidders should:

• write to address above requesting the bidding documents No.ADB-11B-2007 for civil works, erection, testing and commissioning of Extension Works at 220kV Bahawalpur, Yousafwala and Hala Road Hyderabad Grid Stations
• payment of a non-refundable fee of Rs9,000 or US$150 - by Bank Draft from any Scheduled Bank of Pakistan or a reputable foreign Bank under written by any Scheduled Bank of Pakistan in favor of Chief Engineer (EHV) NTDC, 34-Industrial Area Gulberg-III Lahore (Pakistan) the documents may be collected in persons or may be sent by express airmail. For an additional fee of Rs.3000 for domestic delivery or US$ 50 for overseas delivery, the documents may be sent through courier service, in such a case no liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

7. Deliver your bid:

• on or before the deadline i.e.11:00 AM , 4 February 2008
• together with a Bid Security amounting to

Pak Rs.0.96 million or US $ 0.016 million for Lot-I
Pak Rs.0.96 million or US $ 0.016 million for Lot-II
Pak Rs.0.96 million or US $ 0.016 million for Lot-III

Bids will be opened at 11:30 AM, 4 February 2008 in the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend. Late Bids shall be rejected.

8. When comparing Bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied.
