1. The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Secondary Towns and Rural Community Based Water Supply & Sanitation Project and it is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the under the contract for which this Invitation for Bids is issued.
2. The National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWS&DB), the Executing Agency, invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply, delivery and laying of PVC pipes of diameters varying from 90 mm to 225 mm of approx. 105 km total length and DI pipes of diameters varying from 200 mm to 300 mm of approx. 700 m long for water distribution system in zones 3, 4, 7 and 8 (Part B) in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka.
3. National competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure .

5. To purchase the Bidding Document in English, eligible bidders should:
- write to the address below
- from 09.00 hours to 12.00 hours and 13.00 hours to 15.00 hours (local time) on working days
- pay a nonrefundable fee of Rs5,000.0 or and the relevant value added tax of 15% by cash in Sri Lankan Rupees or demand draft or by banker's certified cheque, countersigned by a Bank operating in Sri Lanka.

6. A site inspection will be held on 22 August 2007 and a pre-bid meeting in Colombo on 24 August 2007.
