1. The Republic of Tajikistan has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) toward the cost of the Irrigation Rehabilitation Project. Part of this loan will be used for payments under the contracts named above. The eligibility rules and procedures of ADB will govern the prequalification and the bidding process.
2. The Project Management Office, the Ministry of Water Resources and Land Reclamation intends to prequalify firms for the following contracts:
Replacement of pumps and associated works, and electrical control system of pump stations in Asht and Farkhor-Chubek Irrigation System.
Asht-1 cascade comprises eight pumping stations with up to 14 pump sets in each. Works include:
- Replacement of three pump sets (one of 6.3 m3/s and two of 1.10 m3/s capacity) and associated valves and pipe works, partial replacement of conveyance pipe work, replacement of high and low voltage switch boards, instrumentation and cabling, and overhead crane and repairs of building of ANS -1 pumping station
- Replacement of three pump sets (1.1 m3/s capacity) and associated valves and pipe works, partial replacement of conveyance pipe work, replacement of high and low voltage switch boards, instrumentation and cabling, and overhead crane and repairs of building of ANS - 3B pump station
The major works for rehabilitation of the Farkhor - Chubek Irrigation System include provision of new pumpsets, associated electrical power distribution and repairs of buildings for following pump stations:
- Replacement of three pumpsets (2 of 1.75 m3/s and 1 of 0.55 m3/s capacity) and associated valves and pipe works, partial replacement of conveyance pipework, replacement of high and low voltage switch boards, instrumentation and cabling, and overhead crane and repairs of building of Urtaboz - 1 pump station
- Replacement of one pumpset (0.5 m3/s capacity) and associated valves and pipe works, partial replacement of conveyance pipework, replacement of high and low voltage switch boards, instrumentation and cabling, and overhead crane and repairs of building of Urtaboz-3 pump station
- Replacement of three pump sets (0.9 m3/s capacity) and associated valves and pipe works, partial replacement of conveyance pipework, replacement of high and low voltage switch boards, instrumentation and cabling, and overhead crane and repairs of building of Urtaboz - 4 & 4 A pump station
The projects are located in Farkhor, Pyanj, Bahdat, Rushon and Asht districts irrigation schemes.
3. It is expected that the Invitation for Bids will be made available in September 2007.
4. To obtain further information and inspect the Prequalification Document, bidders should contact the address given below from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm during office hours.
5. The Employer will conduct a clarification meeting to explain the requirements of the prequalification procedures. This clarification meeting will be held at the address listed below on 13 July 2007 at 10:00 hrs. Attendance is encouraged but is not compulsory. Non-attendance will not be considered as part of a Supplier's evaluation for prequalification.
6. The Prequalification Document, in the English language, may be purchased by interested Applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of US$ 200. The method of payment will be in cash or transfer to:

7. Applications must be delivered to the address below at or before 17:00 hours on 20 July 2007. The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject late applications.
8. The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their Applications.
9. The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing of the names of those Applicants who have been prequalified.
