Loan No. 2313 and Grant 0072: Rural Development ProjectThe Republic of Tajikistan has received a loan and a grant from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Rural Development Project. The loan and grant were approved 29 January 2007. Project Loan:The Project takes a holistic and coordinated approach to rural development to address problems and constraints, enhance opportunities, and integrate agriculture more effectively into the rural economy. The Project will focus on five contiguous raions (districts) - Faizabad, Rogun, Rudaki, Vahdat, and Varzob - located around the capital, Dushanbe. Grant: The grant component will develop awareness of land and business rights; develop a modern curriculum for pasture land management and train associated staff; develop the capacity of raions to plan and maintain infrastructure; and procure consultants and equipment for project management. Procurement: All ADB-financed procurement will follow ADB's Procurement Guidelines. ADB will finance the procurement of vehicles, materials and equipment. Contracts for civil works valued at US$ 1 million equivalent or more and contracts for goods and services valued at US$0.5 million equivalent or more, will be procured through International Competitive Bidding. Consulting Services: The Project will provide 2,260 person-months of consulting services consisting of 184 person-months of international consultants and 2,076 person-months of national consultants. The international and national consultants will be recruited in accordance with ADB's Guidelines on the Use of Consultants.
