Invitation for Bids

1.    This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the "ADB Business Opportunities", Issue No. Volume 26/No. 8 of August 2004.

2.    The Republic of Uzbekistan has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) toward the cost of the Woman and Child Health Development Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for supply of Medical, laboratory, anaesthetic, ventilator equipment and consumables for maternity facilities.

3.    The Ministry of Health, represented by the Joint Projects Implementation Bureau 'Health- 2' and 'Woman and Child Health Development' (JPIB) now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for the following goods and related services:

Bidders are allowed to bid for one or any combination of lots.

4.    International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with the ADB's Single Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure and is open to bidders from eligible source countries.

5.    Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from Joint Projects Implementation Bureau and inspect the Bidding Document at the address given below, from 12 September 2008 during business hours from 09:00 to 17:00 hours.

6.    The Bidding Document, in the English language, may be purchased by interested Bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of US$250 or in an equivalent amount in a local currency. The method of payment will be direct deposit to the following accounts of the Joint Projects Implementation Bureau:

The document will be sent by airmail for overseas delivery and surface mail or courier for local delivery. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

7.    Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 15:00 hours on 23 October 2008. All Bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security of the following amounts:

Late bids shall be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the Bidders' representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 15:15 hours on 23 October 2008.

8.    The Joint Projects Implementation Bureau will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.

9.    In the comparison of Bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Instructions to Bidders.
