Research Grants![]() A Research Program is one of the pillars of the CAREC Institute’s activities. The research program will generate new knowledge, innovation, and recommendations to support more effective regional cooperation. The program will seek to provide sound intellectual support to CAREC’s work in the priority areas of transport, energy and trade; and raise the research capacity of research institutes in CAREC countries. The CAREC Institute Small Research Grants Program (SRGP) is one component of the Institute's research activities. The SRGP aims to encourage research by local researchers and institutes that will advance regional cooperation among CAREC participating countries; and to support interaction among researchers and development of research networks in CAREC participating countries. The SRGP will finance one research project in each participating CAREC country through a competitive selection process. The maximum amount of each research grant is $25,000. The research project must be relevant to regional cooperation in one or more of the CAREC priority areas of transport, energy, or trade. Eligible applicants will be either a national or team from a CAREC participating country, or a national or team from another ADB member country in partnership with nationals of CAREC participating countries. Partnerships among researchers and research institutes from a number of CAREC countries are encouraged. If you have queries about the SRGP, please email utashibu@adb.org. In 2007, the SRGP awarded eight grants. The research projects focused on regional economic cooperation in energy, agriculture and environment, trade, and transport that is relevant to CAREC participating countries.
