This volume, the second in a series of 5 volumes, investigates the sustainability of the post-green revolution era. It probes the second-generation problems caused by this revolution and the results of overexploitation of natural resources.
Early indications of unsustainability in major staple food crops, the livestock sector, and marine fisheries have been detected, attributable to a combination of technological, market, and policy failures. The technological and natural resource constraints to further increases in production are assessed. Strategies and policies are proposed to achieve sustainable agricultural development.303 pages.
